Tale of Two Tails
NYC Subway

What do you get when you sever a dual track connection? That's right. Two tail tracks! And what can you do with two tail tracks? Use them as layups--unless of course, you are New York City Transit, in which case, you call them layups but leave them disused and virtually abandoned. That's what happened here. In response, the NYC Department of Design and Construction (DDC) hired our team to reassess the current disposition of the tail tracks and suggest possible alternative uses. We wrote a report encouraging use as a nightclub and graffiti artist public space, but it was eaten by the Sea Honk before we were able to submit it to the DDC.
