2nd Avenue Subway Provisional
NYC Subway

Under the noses of a dozen traffic cops, we slipped into this tunnel not knowing exactly what to expect. We were worried about potential alarms, but that turned out to be an unfounded concern. Once inside, dark rooms opened up into cavernous chambers that were, for the most part, devoid of graffiti. For a segment of the NYC Subway, that was a rare sight. Continuing along, we find the both ends of the approximately 1500-foot long tunnel segment terminated by walls. After a bit more exploring and a startle from upabove, we emerge from the underground and back to the bustling street above. Perhaps one day the Second Avenue Subway will be built, and this forgotten space utilized for the first time since it's construction.
