Bob Diamond's Trolleys
Brooklyn, NY

Poor Bob Diamond. As a Brooklyn native and a lifelong trolley enthusiats, he once had a dreamof reviving trolley service in downtown Brooklyn. This service would have been less for transportation than for novelty, but in essence it would be the the San Francisco Cable Cars. Diamond founded a group called the Brooklyn Historic Railway Association, which purchased many PCC trolley cars and some other historic cars. The BHRA wrestled with the city DOT for rights to build tracks into city streets, but only two blocks of tracks were ever built in public roads. That was in 2001. After a strange series of events unknown to all but the closest to Diamond, the BHRA was disbanded and it's shop closed. The city ripped out the tracks and repaved the streets. Today, Diamond's trolley cars lay abondoned both here and in the Navy Yard.
