County Offices
Rochester, NY
Reconnaisance reports indicated that
this former county office was in need of a Structural Condition
Survey (SCS). Phasor Engineering Consultants was hired to perform
the job. The first non-compliance issue we found was the malfunctioning
alarm system. Although posted notices warn about the building being
alarmed, it was clear that the system was not in use. The County
facilities superintendant will be notified of this to prevent against
unauthorized access. Inside the recently abandoned building, peeling
paint and sagging ceiling tiles seemed to be the most common defect.
All the rooms were empty, but we found two youngs chaps performing
Act 3, Scene 2 from Richard Johnson's 1987 classic "The
Crazy Warehouse" in the press briefing room. Moving along,
we survey the roof and the sub-basement steam tunnels. Asbestos
insulation damage was apparent after examining the steam pipes.
Below is a summary of the photographs taken to be submitted to the
County for contractor review.
