The most prominant building of the Rochester Psychiatic
Center is the 15-story Terrence Building. It was built in 1953,
but closed it's doors for the last time in early 1980s. Other buildings
on the Rochester Psychiatic Cneter campus were erected in the late
1800s. Most of the buildings are abandoned and their windows boarded,
but a few newer buildings are still in use. Since the Center is
a NY State Hospital all its roads are well-patrolled by NYS Hospital
Police who really hate their jobs. One cop in his SUV saw me snapping
photos of one of the abandoned staff houses, but I was standing
five feet into the driveway. Apparently that was trespassing five
feet into State property. He rolled up and (get this) called backup
before getting out of his SUV. Wow, I didn't know a college student
with a digital camera was such a dangerous situation. In any case,
he got my driver's licence ID# and told me to leave.
